Nowadays you can find David in a vineyard or talking about his three passions in life: wine, agriculture and politics. Two of these passions have come together in his weekly radio show he hosts every Tuesday at 3pm on KSVY 91.3 FM. “In the Vine Country” is a two hour show dedicated to viticulture and winemaking. David’s show includes interviews with wine industry leaders ranging from wine growers to winery owners. In 2015 the successful show celebrated its fifth year on the air.
David’s third passion was brought to life in 2012 when he was elected to the Sonoma City Council and served as Mayor in 2015. He continues to serve as a councilmember and enjoys the positive impact he can make in the community. He attributes his success in politics to being down to earth and staying connected to the community.
In 2013 Cook Vineyard Management celebrated its 10th anniversary. The company grew from of a vision to farm high quality grapes in a highly competitive marketplace while staying economically feasible with respect to its surroundings.
Cook Vineyard Management currently manages 475 acres of quality vineyards and olive orchards in Sonoma County.
In 1995 David moved to the wine country to embrace his sustainable growing practices. Heritage is an important part of David’s life as he was born into a family of farmers four generations deep. Growing up on a ranch outside of Willows, California David helped his family grow rice, alfalfa, safflower and over thirty different vine seed crops.
David is married and lives in Sonoma with his wife and children who proudly are the new fifth generation of his legacy.
